For the past six years I’ve conducted an annual camp for college players. The idea came about because of the outcry from college coaches and players at all levels that there isn’t enough going on for college players in the summer to get them better. I’ve worked the Nike All America Camp/Nike Skill Academy camps where college players have the opportunity to workout with other college kids with professional instructors. The idea s a great one that has been beneficial to over 500 or so players in the past 16 years. One of my best friends and world’s best shooting coach Dave Hopla has been running college camps off and on for the past 10 years which I was lucky enough to be a part of.
I’ve always wanted to put on a camp for college players for not only the players at the high levels, but also the small college players as well. The idea behind the camp isn’t to get rich, but have the opportunity to spend time with great instructors working with players that want to get better. We’ve had anywhere form division 1/future NBA players to division 3 bench players.
I won’t lie to you and tell you there has been an overabundance of coaches that call or email me back about the camp. The same coaches that when interviewed say that the NCAA need to have their players work with coaches over the summer are the same ones that go 0 for 10 returning my emails and phone calls. This email isn’t a rant to get more people at the camps, but to get the word spread across the country that there is a camp that college players can attend and get better. The staff is as good as it gets and the instruction is second to none.

For the past ten years Baker has established himself as one of the best minor league professional coaches in basketball winning 3 championships as well as 3 Coach of The Year Awards. He also works for Nike in the summers working with their top college players at their Skill Academies all across the country as well as their All-Asia Camp. Rod Baker has worked with thousands of players at all levels and we are proud to have him as an instructor at our camp.
THE FORMAT
The format of this camp is organized the same as an NBA training camp. There will be Two- 2 hour training sessions per day. Each session players will break up into groups by position and work on position specific on court development. We want our players to get comfortable in their position working only on the skills that coincide with their position.
To start each session players will warmup with light shooting, ball handling, and stretching. Then they will be divided into their groups where they will be going game speed working on position specific development. The same drills that are used in camp are used with players at the college and professional level.
There will be 7 sessions in all and we try to keep them as structured and competitive as possible. There focus behind each session is repetition, teaching, and game speed training. Our first session will run from 8:30AM-11:30AM and our second session will run from 6:00PM-8:30PM
We will build on every session trying to cover as many topics as possible. We want our players to learn as much as possible and be corrected where we feel fit. Our instructors do not try to change our camper’s games but to reinforce their skill level at their position and add where they feel fit.
Camp runs from July 29-August 2. There is no camp on August 2nd, but since our last session on the 1st ends so late we have our overnight campers stay until the 2nd to check out.

IN CLOSING
This is a great opportunity for college players to get a week of great training to add to their game. There is a very limited amount of camps for college players to attend. This is a great setting to get better as our instructors are second to none in working with players to get them better.
All we ask is for any coach that sees this that has a player that can benefit to pass the information along to them. In the long run it will help any player at any level.
We don’t care if there are 2 campers or 42. Our goal is to work with the players that walk through the door on our first day and they will get better. If there is anyone interested in attending please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our email is info@hoopconsultants.com or you can call us at (617) 329-9037.
I am very excited about this camp as I am any other situation to interact with players or coaches at any level. There is still plenty of time and plenty of spaces available to get a player or players into camp.If there is any coach that has questions or concerns about the material that will be covered at camp we invite you to ask us questions.
Thank You
